Blueberry, Spinach and Banana Smoothie

I love eating sweets and carbs especially in the winter. They are so comforting.  I always forget to eat fruits and veggies. I actually enjoy drinking them because eating them seems so tedious. I decided to start juicing some fruits and veggies. My mom got us this awesome juicer for Christmas. You don't need a juicer though, a blender works just fine. Today I made a blueberry, spinach and banana smoothie. All you need for one smoothie drink is:

1 cup of Blueberries
1 banana
1 cup of spinach

Photo Album Idea

Here is an easy, cheap and creative way to make a photo album. I've recently found some old playbooks for $1 at a secondhand bookstore. I picked some with titles like, "The Rabbit Hole and Daytrips"  Each playbooks title create a theme for the album. So for example, I will make an album of my bunny with the Rabbit Hole playbook and an album of all of our adventures to different states using the Daytrips book.  Here are the supplies you'll need.

NPR Tiny Desk Concert Date

Sometimes Paul and I have NPR Tiny Desk Concert dates. We'll make espresso or tea and then sit with twinkle lights on and listen to a concert.  So if you're ever bored on a weekend and need something to do, make a nice beverage and sit in the dark and listen to one of these. I guarantee you'll love it.

Camera Obsucra

Today I turned by bedroom into a camera obscura (pinhole camera). Camera obscura means "darkened room."It was the first camera.  The camera obscura has been around for thousands of years. In the 17th and 18th centuries, artist like Vermeer and Jan van Eyck used them to create drawings. It was until the 1800's that an actual photograph was taken with these kinds of cameras.

If you're interested in turning a room into a camera obsucra, here is what you'll need:

1. Aluminum foil

2. Tape

4. Scissors

All you have to do is tape over your windows with aluminum foil. Then cut a small hole towards the top. Then turn off your lights and see the image outside reflected upside down on your walls.

Snow Day

We woke up to about 10 inches of snow this morning. Paul had the morning off. Most places are either closed or opened this afternoon. I'm making today a "creative day" since the roads are still covered in snow. Here's what my day looks like...

 I've printed out some of our adventures. I'm going to put together an album of our time here in Chattanooga.

 

I'm listening to music my record player. I really enjoy the crackling sound records make. It sparks my imagination and helps me to create.

 Today is a Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Paul McCartney and Joni Mitchel kind of day. I'm also listening to Caitlin Canty right now. She's my new favorite artist. I'll make a soundtrack for y'all.

 I found some old postcards that I want to make into a little journal. I got the idea from A Beautiful Mess blog.

 Today I was feeling a little Grand Ole Opry ish. I'm wearing a vintage flannel shirt from the 1960's and some cowboy boots from the 1980's.

I spend most of my days running errands, doing yoga, going to the darkroom, taking classes, reading or writing and keeping a warm and cozy home. I believe our homes should be simple and only filled with the things that inspire us. Here are some of my home inspirations.

 I have a small travel guitar that my sister gave me. In spare moments I often pick it up and learn one song I'm particularly fond of at the time. I've found that singing in the bathroom and in my dining room makes my voice sound amazing.

 I  LOVE old cameras. I have one 35mm camera from my grandpa, a couple of 620 and 120 film cameras and a couple of old Polaroids. I love that old cameras have seen things I've never seen. Each camera offers a unique way of capturing the world. They are like old mysterious friends.

Chattanooga has a good number of warm winter days. I love sitting on my front porch and reading or writing. Front porches are where I dream of adventures.

 My beautiful bunny, Dixie,  teaches me to slow down and to live in the moment more. Paul and I have been trying to spend our evenings listening to music and sitting near our bunny. It's so relaxing and I know Dixie loves being near us.

 I love pops of color around the house such as these orange pillows, my warm farm blanket and my vintage Muncha poster.

Deer antlers remind me that life is fragile. I also love being able to admire the beauty of the horns from this majestic creature.

 Old maps always make me think about adventures. I like to study them. This is an old map of San Francisco.

Bright scarves seem to brighten up those dreary winter days. I always feel like I'm adding some beauty to the outdoors when I wear one.

I was reading about the importance of light especially during the winter. It is essential to our well being. These old windows let in such beautiful light. I also love how the glass is ripply too. It makes the world outside seem more magical.

My mom gave me this typewriter for Christmas one year. I especially like to type quotes or add words to some of my Polaroid pictures.
